Babolat’s Pure Strike line of tennis racquets are designed for aggressive players who want a high level of control. Players who want to hit the ball as hard as possible, with full confidence that it’s going where they mean for it to go. Players like up-and-coming Dominic Thiem, who is the face of the line. In this review, we’re looking at one of the racquets in this line, the Babolat Pure Strike 100, to see how it compares, and if it’s a good fit for you.

Features & Benefits of the Pure Strike 100

The Pure Strike 100 is one of several Pure Strike racquets by Babolat. It has a slightly bigger head size than the Pure Strike 16×19, and slightly lower weight and swingweight. Let’s take a closer look at some of the features and benefits of this racquet.

Phenomenal maneuverability

As one of the lighter tennis racquets in the Babolat Pure Strike series, the Pure Strike 100 is extremely easy to weild. The incredible maneuverability may help you more easily get into an offensive position, as you can move your opponents off the court by hitting some good angles.

Less stability

Unfortunately, the lighter weight and excellent maneuverability come at the expense of some stability. The great maneuverability of this racquet increases your ability to get into place to defend, but the lack of stability makes returning serves and powerful shots more difficult. Forceful hits may cause the racquet to twist in your hand, making it more difficult to return aggressive serves.

The Pure Strike 100 also has a relatively smaller sweetspot, and hitting outside of it results in decreased power, control, and spin.

Lower Power, More Shot Variety

The Pure Strike doesn’t offer the same easy power as the Pure Drive, or even the Pure Strike 16×19. But the lighter, easy feel to the racquet can give you the confidence to mix up your pace and spin, creating a greater variety of shots to keep your opponent on her toes.

Pros
  • Ideal balance of power and control
  • Great stability and maneuverability
  • Larger sweetspot
Cons
  • Less control on slower strokes

The Pure Strike 100 is an extremely maneuverable racquet. You could say it’s basically the ‘diet’ or ‘light’ version of the Pure Strike 16×19. So if you’re looking for a racquet with a little more weight and stability, as well as a little more power and spin, then try the Pure Strike 16×19 instead.

Summary & Recommendations

The Pure Strike 100 might be a good fit if you are looking for a racquet that’s extremely maneuverable, but still has some decent power and spin.

This racquet sacrifices some stability and control, but it’s a comfortable and easy-to-swing racquet that might help you mix up your play to go on the offensive and move your opponent off the court. You can find the current price of the Pure Strike 100 on Amazon.
